The Underdog

Hello Friends,

Here’s a picture I did just for some kicks, just to get back the feel of using india ink and quills.  This one goes out to Catherine Mourot, whose book I’ve been dawdling on but am now done, and who gets a kick out of delusions of mousey grandeur.

Tomorrow is the 10th of December, the day I get that first twinge of panic, soft and only slightly nagging at first, that I haven’t done a single stupid little thing to prepare for Christmas.  I’ll get another on the 15th and another on the 20th, each one stronger and more urgent than the last, and come the 24th I’ll be running wild-eyed and frantic and crazy through the orillia square mall, stumbling and weeping and grabbing at the worst gifts imaginable like some tired old cliche out of a female comic’s holiday stand-up routine.  It’s hellish, irresponsible and totally preventable, but god dammit, it’s a tradition.

And holiday traditions are important.

New RSS feed and site rework/relaunch

Hello Friends,

It was meteors is undergoing a bit of construction right now before I begin posting to it again.  For the next week or so a lot of the sections will be unavailable and works in progress while I update them from their archaic/Dan-made/affront to God versions to the slick/common-sense-driven/Rachel-made versions.

But that’s not really the point.  The point is, if you’d like to continue getting RSS posts from the site (which will be more frequent once I get it all reorganized, this time for sure), you should use this feed instead:

http://itwasmeteors.com/site/feed/

Thanks for following along and updating this info.  I’ll make it worth our whiles.  I’m working on some fun stuff right now.

Yers,

Dan

ALSO:

If you haven’t been to Rachel’s portfolio site lately, you should go now.  She just did a ton of work to make my site work, none of which I understood.  There is a painting of me pretending to take a nap on the city of Toronto.  Didn’t really happen, but it makes me look innocent.

What’s in Store….

Hello Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying the stupid poem that I’m illustrating right now.  If you haven’t been paying attention then you should start from the beginning, here

I put some new prints up in the shoppe, some stuff that’s only been available at book shows and that sort of thing. Until Now.  I thought you might like a kick at the cat, too.

I guess that’s it for now.  Just wanted to say hey.

The Adventures of Thok (A Paleautobiography)

If cavemen wrote memoirs I think they would look like this and be way more fun to read.

It turns out….

metaThis is a very old comic but I still like it.  I’d love to find some of the strips I did in grade 5 just for kicks, but who knows where they’ve all ended up.

I am the flame; I am Mexico

Going to start working on doing some book publishing pretty soon.  Might reprint this one, might try something new.  Stay tuned.

These days I’ve been posting a new comic on Sundays and then something else for kicks on Wednesday or Thursday, just to balance things out, just to mix it up, just to say hey,  just to keep in touch.

The insufferable trials of Henderson and the beauty we all leave behind

As the punishment must fit the crime, Poor Henderson is cursed and cursed again to undo what he has done.

RSS Feed Information

I’ll slap up a delightful icon for the RSS feed on this site soon, but until then I hope this is okay as a substitute:

http://www.itwasmeteors.com/brandywine/feed

If you’re already receiving this post in your RSS feed, sorry for the extraneous shit.   And if it somehow creates an infinite loop in your reader and ruins your computer or tears open some kind of contiuum, NOT my fucking fault!

In other news, real news that will justify this post for everyone, even those of you being sucked into a cyberspace vortex by my the paradox-creating RSS post about an RSS post, my mother has asked me many times as nicely as she can to stop swearing on the internet, especially the F-word, and I’ll try.

Actually, I guess that’s not real news at all…. Fiddlesticks!

NOT very satisfying.  Not very satisfuckingfying at all.

First Thing I’d Do

I never really play or experiment with my wacom the way I should, I just use it as a very fancy mouse to drag around the watercolour pictures I’ve scanned in.  As a result, I’m not very handy with it.
